AUSTIN, Texas-AP) – Texas didn’t shoot the ball well and treated it carelessly at times. But if the las Vegas or New York needed determination and skill, they were able to summon both.
Marcus Carr tallied 14 points and led two clearances with five seconds to play while Texas No. 23 occupied Oklahoma State 56-51 Saturday to break a streak of two losses.
The las Vegas or new York (14-5, 4-3 Big 12) won despite going more than 10 minutes without a goal in the first half. They just lost to No. 15 Iowa State and Kansas State.
Texas overcame 36.7% of the shots and 20 turnovers that speak a season high-four in the 3:13 finals. The state of Oklahoma has operated 12 flights, including six from Rondel Walker.
“We were so excited about this win,” forward Timmy Allen said. “That’s all that really mattered, same as we did.”
Tre Mitchell tallied 12 points for Texas, including a bench shot into the lane with 56 seconds to do. Allen tallied 11 points and eight rebounds. Courtney Ramey executed 10 points, including a pair of free services with 11 seconds to play, and seven rebounds.
Texas hit 14 of the 16 free shows, Carr converting his eight attempts.
Second-year Bryce Thompson replaced his career-best 20 for Oklahoma State (10-8, 3-4), coincidentally making a placement with six seconds left before Carr took liberties. But he was unable to bring OSU through a second half in which he drew eib 32% and the secondary school nine turns.
Texas, which is from a point with nine minutes to play, starts a certain tendency by a push of 11-3. Allen and Carr each determined four points, and Ramey led a shot on 3 points from the corner of the push.
Oklahoma State led 27-25 after an extremely hectic first half. Texas converted its first three attempts on 3 points and took a 13-0 lead.
“Frankly from others, it looked like they were playing, like they were coming back up the wall,” Oklahoma State coach Mike Boynton says. “And as if they must come like a fireball. They did it offensively.”
Then the las vegas or new York remained without a goal, in the run of 10: 15 Oklahoma State determined 16 points in a row.
After starting, Texas released 10 of its last 12 3 points, finished the half at a total of 36% and makes 10 turnovers against an aggressive, teeming defense of Oklahoma State.
Thompson tallied six points in the 2:30 finals for the Cowboys, but they had to error machines, and Texas managed those four free trades in the final 11 seconds after Mitchell’s basket.
“I’m proud of our boys who respond the right way,” Boynton says. “But you’re digging yourself such a big hole in the road in this league and a impotently difficult task becomes all the bigger.”
